The area around the temple was once a forest where many wild animals were lived. These images showed at exactly the same place where the temple is currently located.

According to another folk tale, it is said that a famous mahant saw Shri Pretraj Sarkar, Lord Shri Balaji, and Shri Bhairav dev in his dream. When mahant opened his eyes, he saw lord hanuman in front of him who ordered the mahant to be prepared to serve his duty. After this happening, they started worshipping Lord Hanuman here and finally the construction of the temple.

The Rituals of the Mehandipur Balaji Temple

At this temple, each visitor must perform some rituals in the proper sequence. These rituals are classified into three parts i.e. Durkhasta, Arzi, and Savamani. Durkhasta is the first step where you have to purchase Durkhasta laddoos available in the shops outside this temple. You will get two plates with 4 to 5 ladoos in each plate, the first plate is to inform God about your presence in this temple and second to request support and in solving your problems. The procedure of Durkhasta begins right after the Morning Prayer and lasts until the evening prayer. The devotees have to provide the plates to the priests who standing in front of the idols, these priests pick up the ladoos and add them to the fire in front of the statue. A similar ritual is to be repeated in front of the idols of Kotwal Bhairav Ji and Pretraj Sarkar. After that, the leftover ladoos in the plates are rotated anticlockwise over the person’s head seven times and thrown away without looking back.

Arzi is like an offering for Kotwal Bhairav Ji and Pretraj Sarkar. This offering comprising of 2.25 kilograms of urad dal, 1.25 kilograms of laddoos, and 4.25 kilograms of boiled rice. The Arzi is available in all the shops situated just outside the temple and It is to be offered to both the deities in distinct containers.

If you ask for any wish from Lord Hanumanji or Balaji, you must promise that once the wish is completed, you will provide Savamani to the god. Savamani is a special offering that is mostly offered to the lord on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
